The Faefly Zine is a resource for DIY artists of all kinds. In this publication we will be investigating new talent and showcasing new work, exposing the thoughts of some very inspiring artists through interviews and exploring what it means to make art - music in particular - independently, as well as explaining the processes involved in releasing and marketing creative work and giving you some handy tutorials, tips and tricks in the process...

This is very much a work-in-progress. I am a very busy person and don't have a lot of time to work on this at the moment, so it will be quite slow to start off with. I hope that I will have some more concrete content for you to see very soon!

I've decided that because I don't really have the time or means to work on a real magazine at this time, this will work a lot better as an e-zine. :) So that is what it shall be. I plan to get something up this week! I do have -some- stuff to present... Honest. :)

Things have been crazy here, and my internet connection is the worst on the planet, so it's a bit tricky to get online and do my usual things. Boohoo. I was gonna say, "I'll start this at the weekend" but then I realised... it IS the weekend, and I have a tonne of important things to do. Doh. Where oh where does my time go?!

Yes, this project site now has a nicer theme. :)

Still no more content, sorry! Perhaps tomorrow I will get a chance to write some things!

The past week has been a bit of a frenzy so I haven't had time to get started on any of this at all!

However, Queenie has agreed to interview which is uber cool - now I just have to figure out what to ask her. He he.

Ahhh. Tired. Just realised it's 1:25 AM. Whoops. BEDTIME.

Snooze. :)

Soooo... having thought some more about what I'd like to include in this first issue, I've come up with a few ideas so far.

People I want to interview about their work/concepts:

* Queenie (independent, DIY musician of queeniemusic.com - also a very cool lady!)
* Hélène Deroubaix (my penpal, a talented mixed media artist and poet who has started her own art business online)
* The creator of SheezyArt :D (ahem, as soon as I can find out who that is)

Features/thoughts on:

* Creativity (what's it all about?)
* DIY culture on the internet

Sooo, first and foremost, I should probably work out the format and layout of this thing. :)

I've decided to make the first issue nice and short to see how it goes (cos let's face it... it's probably gonna end up being harder than I think!).

Since I'll probably be printing/copying it all myself it'll be A5 (i.e. A4 sheets folded in half and stapled) and make it 16 pages long (4 sheets, printed on both sides). This leaves 14 actual pages, since two will be the front and back covers.

Welcome to the hub of the Faefly Zine. :)

If you're still a bit confused about what I'm trying to do here, hopefully this will clear things up a little bit.

What's a zine?

A zine is a self-published, non-commercial publication, usually aimed at a non-mainstream interest group. There are many many many different sorts of zines - there are no rules. That's the beauty. It's a totally individual creation.

So... why make one?
